** I have cleared the alarm by using:-
# set chassis alarm management-ethernet link-down ignore
Can someone tell me what could be the reason for fxp0's link Proto "down" ?
What steps could i take to troubleshoot the issue.
Some Details:-
Router:- M120
Junos:- 10.4R9.2
How it went down :-
I configured fxp0 unit 0 and assigned it's IP 192.168.1.5/24. Uploaded a file then i deleted fxp0 unit 0
Command used:-
# delete interface fxp0 unit 0
after that link proto for fxp0 went down.

If nothing is connected that is why it is down. You can disable the interface if you aren't using it.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.

Yes ok i know that layer 2 proto is down because nothing is connected to it , but i m confused that why was it up before i made unit 0 ? i mean no cables were connected before.
Is there any reason that fxp0 was UP/UP(without cable) before i made fxp0 unit 0.
