Trying to install VCP 5

sendalotsendalot Member Posts: 328
Hello,

I'm new to VMware and happen to have some license for VCP5 Essential Kits. (UPDATE: not VCP, but VSphere 5 Essential Kits).

On my Win Serv 2008 R2, I'm trying to start by installing Operations Server.

But the setup is failing despite all the hardware requirements.

Any advice?

Thanks.

    Hi,

Do you mean vCenter Operations Manager? You'll need to provide a bit more information on the issues you're experience such as error messages you're seeing, etc.

VCP = VMware Certified Professional, a human being.

What are you trying to install?

I install Operation Server, Manager then ESXi, correct me if I am wrong please.

When I first start the installation package, it complains about scripts, but I have Java installed, etc.

The error message indicates the setup ended prematurely.

    Thanks.

You should probably start with the installation and configuration documentation to understand the order of events and what's necessary.

Im not sure what the VCP5 Essentials kit is but if your goal here is to test and learn the vSphere suite I would start by downloading the vCenter and ESXi install files from vmware. It comes with a 60 day license. Then this website can help with setting everything up Building the Ultimate vSphere Lab – Part 1: The Story | Boerlowie's Blog
