  It depends on what you want to use it for... Microsoft has a program called HUP - Home Use Program where employers who are eligible can offer this program to their employees. This program entitles employees to purchase Office for $10. The use-right license for the employee is valid as long as the employee remains with the the employer.

  Are you taking classes anywhere? If you qualify for the student version it is a lot cheaper.
