Are you implying that a person should be able to go sit for the BAR without having a undergrad degree and/or attending Law School?

As many have stated, having the degree helps but isn't essential. All things being equal, it will give the edge. I have ran into many, many obstacles trying to enter IT without the degree. Thankfully, I have been able to, but only after getting the CompTIA "Three". Even then, the pay is definitely entry level. With the degree, I would have many more options available to me. Of course, a degree with no experience can, in many markets, be just as bad as certs only without the degree. So, YMMV. As for the Bar reference, in nearly every state, except California, you need to attend an ABA approved Law school, meaning that you have to have a J.D. to sit for the bar. Of course, the world doesn't need too many more lawyers but they sure do need us IT folks...lol.

WGU was designed for people in your exact situation. You don't have time and you don't have a lot of capitol to put towards a degree. WGU is cheap and you do it on your own time. It's a no brainer. TE is big on WGU. There are others like Maryland and some schools that others could tell you better about but I think WGU is the answer to your question. They will give you credit hours based on what certifications you have which saves you both time and money and also incorporate certifications into their degree path. You'll spend between 9k-12k and you'll have an accredited bachelors. Ya can't beat it. -Not a paid WGU advertismentEDIT: Maybe not designed, but advertised as such.

The ROI is there if you want it. If you play poker, it's definitely +EV. That being said, it is not necessarily needed as others have said.
