Scheduled to take the Sec+ exam 11/14

Hello all,

I am a new member, but I have been a lurker for a few months before actually joining.

I already have my A+ and Net+, and am going for my Sec+ in about 5 days. I have access to the library suite at Testout/Labsim, and have completed the Security+ and SCCP coursework in just under a month. I have been prepping for the Sec+ exam for the past couple of weeks. My plan is to take the SCCP (ISC)2's security exam after that. I have also been using Darril Gibson's GCGA Sec+ book (thank you Darril) as well as Professormessor's site for extra resources. I was actually going to take the test this week 11/7, but decided to give myself an extra week of prep, just to be on the safe side. icon_wink.gif

Wish me luck! I'll report back after the pass! icon_cool.gif

Welcome to the forums techwizard. If you've been lurking you probably know about the newer performance based questions. If not, make sure you read about them through a blog or elsewhere.

    Good luck.

I am aware of the performance based questions, I got them on the A+ and Net+ exams. I took the A+ in August, and the Net+ in October. In fact, when I took the Net+ exam it was a bit buggy, I had one question that wouldn't let me do anything, I couldn't click on anything, so I was forced to reset the question and start the question over. Is there a dedicated SSCP/ISC2 forum here? I didnt see one...

edit: nevermind, I see it now, just had to look harder. lol. thanks.

About 33 hours till I take the Sec+ exam. I am prepping by taking practice tests and going over my weak domains.

I used Testouts material and Ucertify's practice exams to get me through and passed this last week. I ended up skipping all performance questions as they were #'s 1-7, then just came back to them after doing the rest of the exam. I probably didn't have to though as I had plenty of time left.

    Good luck!

Oh nice! I used Testout/Labsim also, and am using exam cram **** sheet for the distilled/highlighted material, and Darril Gibson's book and professormesser's site for extra resources. Down to the last few hours of prep here. About 12.5 hours to go before the test.

Thank you for the good luck you guys!

I just took the self assessment practice exam inside the Darill book (page 21), I timed myself, and only used about an hour (out of the 1h 40m time limit) to finish the questions portion of the exam. Of course, if I knew more than I did, I probably would've taken an additional 10 minutes to try to recall facts and knowledge that I would've read up on and learned.

BTW, anyone know where we can report "bugs" for the text book?

Congrats! That is awesome. When I took the Net+ exam in November of last year, I had the same problem with the performance-based questions. It was the first question, for me. Had to get the proctor's attention. He was surprised, I guess I was the first person to flag him down during a test.

lol thats funny, because I think it was the very first question for me too, performance based. I flagged the proctor and she said "oh thats weird, did you try to reset it?" I said "no, not yet" and thats when reset it, and it worked after that.
