As in the topic. I use console cable with USB transition cable. I am able to connect to Cisco 2600 router, but I am not able to connect to 2811 router.I use Putty. I bought recently both: USB transition, and console cables (I've lost somewhere the old cables). I received today new Cisco 2811 router. With an old cable I was able to connect to my other Cisco 2811 router, with new one I can't connect to both of them. I think the problem is with the cables, but why I can connect to 2600 router?

It may also be some kind of compatibility problem regarding USB converter chipset, try one with FTDI chipset. They are not the cheapest, but they usually work with everything. Chipi-x should be a good choice. -
