CASP Passed!

w00t!
I successfully negotiated the CASP exam!

I did not think it was incredibly difficult, since I just passed CISSP last month (and have been studying CISSP what seems like forever). I read through the Sybex CASP book (kindle edition) one time and took the test. Because I am Military and fall under the DoD 8570, I was able to obtain a voucher, which is really the only reason I decided to take the exam. The total cost out of pocket for me to take this was just the cost of the ebook, about $35.

I loved the simulations for this exam. I wish all other certification exams included fun SIMs like this. These were more interactive than Cisco's SIMs by far (From my CCNA/Security experience), unsure how the CCNP SIMs are.

What I liked about this exam was it was more technical than the CISSP by a mile, and as a young guy still I want to remain as technical as possible. I know the exam or the credential of CASP might not be worth a whole lot now, but it was a fun exam (compared to CISSP). If you can get a voucher I say go for it! Or if you want to progress from Security+, this is a good next step. I would recommend those with CISSP should not waste your time unless you just want something to do for fun.

Thanks to all who run these forms here. I know the administrator has a blog up about his CASP experience and it was super useful before I decided to take the plunge.

Congrats. I'm hoping to take it soon. Perhaps I should then follow it up with CISSP.
