Got offered a job, waiting for official offer from HR.

Just went to a interview at one of the top 100 Hospitals in the US. If not only for a internal referral it is very hard to get into IT within a hospital. However, I'm not sure if low balled my self, when the supervisor as me what my salary expectation were, I said around 21 dollars which comes out to almost 44k. Right now, I make about 38,600 being a help desk analyst at my current job. Do you think that is a good jump in my salary, plus the hospital has full benefits the first day I start, with bonuses every year. which is hard to get these days. I will be doing also the similar job, but learning more applications as well doing some desktop support on the side. plus there is a lot more room for growth where as my current job there is nothing to move up. Also, hospital pays for certifications and puts you in classes. So what does everyone think? Is that a good opportunity

Seeing as you're not taking on many more responsibilities then I would say it's a good package. Higher pay, bonuses, free classes/certifications and the chance to advance. Just try to move up as quickly as possible.

I would have went for 45K, but the fact that they have full benefits and what sounds like a good training plan, I say its a great opportunity. Just remember to hit the ground running and learn as much as you can. Best of luck to you and congrats!!!

Depends on the benefits. I would be willing to take 3k-7k pay cut for free health insurance, free certifications and paid classes !!! Spend 3-4 years there, get experienced, certs, classes, and move out for 40K-50K more an year. Unless they have given you good raise.

Yes they are full benefits but not free.
I will also be worKing 11.30 - 7pm

First off congrats!

Second yes, I'd say you did well. A hospital has plenty of room to grow depending on the way you want to go. They all have networking teams, systems teams, and even application specialists (EPIC is a big thing right now for hospitals).

HR tomorrow. Do you think the HR at the hoSpital will send the offer
By email or by phone? How do they usually do that?

Offer letters are generally either a PDF you sign, scan, email back or through the application you applied through to digitally accept.

As Tech said above, I got a call from HR telling me what my offer was then emailed me a copy of what they offered so I could sign it and scan it then send it back.

Have fun with Epic Certification and the product. I just left our Epic team and I am Epic Certified and the product is nice and works well once it is setup correctly. There are many pieces all over.

yeah, hopefully its today that I get it. This was actually a referall from a internal employee and got already the offer from the
manager. He just wanted me to confirm with my family to make sure the schedule was okay that he provided
Friday, my friend told me that he had already presented to HR and that HR should be officially extending me the offer
How long do these HR in Hospitals take? geeez..I guess they have to prepare all the paperwork and all the new hire orientation stuff
I guess I'm just being to jumpy right now...! lol

Good luck learning Epic, I've heard a lot of people don't like the user side of it (my wife is a nurse).

Even if its a internal employee, referring me from the outside , it takes that long to get a official offer? Here is the weird part, before I even got an interview, I got the correspondence from the company by email stating the most common "Sorry, but we have chosen another candidate for this postion, best luck in your search and thanks forapplying" Anyway, I emailed the supervisor and told him I got this email, and he said to come in for interview as scheduled, I got the interview and offered me, because he said to even go home and talk it over with my wife to make sure that schedule is okay..so I email him back and told him everything is good. My friend that referred me, stated that the supervisor got my email and stated that HR will be extending an offer to me either that next day or Monday, but now its Tuesday. I still do not see any offer letters, when I logon to the hospital site. Do you think because it was a internal referral that the HR and supervisor is not on the same page. Should I email back the supervisor today and find out what the status or should Iemail the HR and inform her that I was offered the job from the IT department, give her so and so name, etc.

Definitely keep in contact with the one that extended your offer.

Sending offer letter through snail mail is old school.. The last few companies I worked for I had to login to a secure website that had offer letter and many more documents available for download, as well as setting up your drug test. The only thing I had to bring with me on my first day is authorization to work in the United States.

Yea I would contact him, and be certain that it was an offer for employment. Since you started this thread I have someone been hesitant to congratulate you as I was not sure myself if you even got an offer of employment.

Got the call today from HR and got the extended offer as well as all the official offer letter by email along with a bunch of paperwork. Got the quote I was looking for at $21.00 with full benefits and incentives.

Congrats! sorry for doubting but I had a similar situation where I was offered something over the phone then never got the written. Finally found out they had offered the job to someone else.
