Finish what I had planned for 2013. I have been really busy the last three years with certs and school. As usual I took a short break that turned into a long break 7 months long. So get my MCSA, then start on upgrade path for Windows 8 and CCNA on the back side. Seem simple, but it sounded that way back in April of this year. lol

So far all I have planned for 2014 is:

Finish CIA (two-thirds finished). It is not a tech cert, but it is useful for me as an IT auditor.
    CCENT
    CCNA Security
Start WGU MSISA - finish at least 50% of credit hours.

I had fallen off the cert and more importantantly the study bandwagon for a good while. It took a work paid training course and the realisation that I need to stay current to kick me back into gear again. I also feel that my IT career is at a fork and a little stale and I need to decide which way I want to go.

For me 2014 ill be aiming for
    Security+
    MCSA: Server 2012 upgrade
Then ill re-evaluate where my head is at, and what I want to be doing.

    Fun times ahead!

ITILV3 Foundations; CCNA Security, CCNP or CCNP (Security) One or the other depends on what route I would like to take after taking CCNA Security.

    Goals:

    LPIC-2

Not really gonna be too focused on certs this year since my biggest goal is finish my degree at WGU. I'll probably end up racking up a few MTA certs and CCNA security in the process though but the LPI cert is probably the only thing I'm gonna have time for outside of school.
  • Kinet1cKinet1c Member Posts: 604 ■■■■□□□□□□
    Hoping for the following certs:

    CCNA Security
    LPIC-1/Linux+
    MCSA 2008 + 2012 upgrade exam

Not certificate based but I want to gain a good knowledge base in python, ruby & chef.
2018 Goals - Learn all the Hashicorp products

Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity

Hoping to knock out my CCDA/CCDP and get at least halfway through my CCNP Security.

I'm not underestimating NP exams anymore so I think that'll keep me busy throughout the year...

    January: 70-680
February: 70-685 (Making me MCSA: Windows 7)
    March: 70-410
    April: 70-411
May: 70-412 (Making me MCSA: Server 2012)

    It's a crap-shoot after that. I'm thinking CCENT/CCNA, then moving into the Linux field. LPIC-1 and LPIC-2, or Linux+

70-461 - MS SQL 2012 is it for now. This maybe the only one I am able to take in 2014. Potentially additional MS SQL exams but I'll wait to make that decision.

    70-642 - May, 2014
    70-640 - July, 2014

    Need motivation.
Got a decent background, certs but my title and salary still crappy.
Finishing CCNP r&s by the end of january and thinking about DA/DP by the end of the year..

Still dreaming about moving to another country, still knowing that it would be tough.

    Immediate future: Linux+, 70-680
    February '14: Finish my A.S.

...then CCNA, MCSA Server 2012. It's open from there. Might go deeper into Linux if my job requires it, otherwise I'll wait and see what I need to know for work. I have an interview with a major company here in Indianapolis for an IT Operations position coming up, and if I get that job, it will dictate what path I take.

Here are my plans for 2014:
    • MCTS 70-685 First half of January completing my MCITP - Enterprise Desktop Technician Cert
    • 70-410 - Beginning of March
    • 70-411 - End of April
    • 70-412 - Beginning of June
    • MCSA: Windows Server 2012
    • Security+ - Middle of July
    • VMWare Certs
    • Maybe ITIL
I am unsure of the last 2 currently, the first ones are fairly well planned out with the company I am currently working for. As they are paying for the books and the training I cannot really complain all that much.

    CCIE R/S Lab - May 28th

Hard to say after that as I need to pass that first.

Assuming I do, then I'll probably go shoot for either another CCIE or refresh my MCSE up to 2012.

That, or VMWare or something. I really don't know. More IE level stuff would be good.

SWITCH by the end of January...
ROUTE by the end of May...
TSHOOT by the end of June.

If I can crank CCNP out this year I'll be happy. I would also like to try for CCDA as well, but we'll see how things go!
