I definitely agree they're probably not worth paying for but I'm glad I got all 3. I can only hope they release the Network Virtualization cert before it's too late to get that one for free as well.

As a side note I got my physical copies of the certs in the mail yesterday. I actually didn't even know I'd be getting hard copies. Nice touch by VMWare to see they care enough to send them unlike MS who wants to charge for a copy of each one.

I mistakenly used the ICS code last night and amazingly it still worked!

All three done now, hope the NV is available before the codes expire. Thanks to all who have posted codes as I would not have done these if I had to pay for them.

They just offered a VCA class here at work. Week long deal. I thought it was the VCP class and was really jealous of all those selected. I felt lucky I wasn't selected when I discovered it was just the VCA. I enjoyed the web seminar and learned a lot from it but wouldn't want to sit through 5 days in class of it.

Took about 4 weeks for me to get mine.

I only received one of mine for some reason. I assumed the others would soon follow but no such luck. Not sweating it though. As long as my VMware transcript reflects accurately, I am content.

I'm extremely late to this thread.

Wondering whether I'd be able to use the new code and tackle these for free over the coming weekend?

Most likely. Try plugging the codes into pearson vue. You can start the test anytime after.

Codes are still good (the GKN Global Knowledge until Jan 31st I believe, but the already 50% off early adopter discount ends November 30th) I was on the WGU Dreamspark website today and they had a voucher for a free VCA exam that had a very similar layout to the previous codes, but a different identifier on the end. I am going to do some research and see if it is a public knowledge/public available code and if it is share it.

Had another slow day at work so I decided to hit the VCA-WM. I ran through the course provided by VMware, read up on a few things I didn't quite feel were covered well enough in the videos, and took the test with a passing score of 380. Not quite a high-flying pass, but a pass nonetheless, and now I've taken all the VCA tests VMware has made available. (I'm hoping they'll release the networking specialty before the end of the promotions we've been seeing.)

Again, I don't think any of these certs are worth the original $120 price tag, but I do believe that the training courses are worth the while to sit through and watch, especially if you're just getting started with virtualization and planning to do a VCP-level exam at some point. I'd imagine these courses would also be helpful for people in sales or operations, or for managers that aren't hands-on technical, but need to understand how the various VMware products work and in what kinds of scenarios you'd deploy each.

is this offer still available ??
  • DoyenDoyen Member Posts: 397 ■■■□□□□□□□
Yes, but the promotional voucher only takes $60 off of the $120 exam price. Until the end of the month, the VCA exams are half off at $60. So using the promotional voucher will make the exam free until the end of the month, unless they extend the half off on the VCA exam promotion. As posted before, these are the exam codes that are still good:

    VCA13GKN
    VMRT7A0D9F9B
    VMRT7B819936

I've used the top one on the 19th to take the Workforce Mobility.

I'm trying to schedule the VCAD510/VCA-DCV exam. I originally submitted the request over the weekend. I submitted it again today. How long does this take?

Are you waiting on your approval from VMware or are you waiting on Pearson Vue to schedule the exam? I had 3 failures to schedule an exam with Pearson Vue after I was approved by VMware. I sent Pearson Vue a response with my VMware information and they were able to fix it in about a day. You may be having the same issue. Hopefully you can get it resolved before the end of the month since they are going to end the VCA half of promotion so using the promotional voucher will make the exam $60 instead of $120 in December.

The issue that they had with me was that the candidate ID provided by VMware. When I emailed them, they send me this email:

They basically gave me an account and password to register my test. Which is why I recommended emailing them to perhaps resolve the issue.
