Have you picked up a book yet? Have you decided what method you're going use to lab for the exam?
    Goals for 2018:

I have the resource and the access to proper labs. I think my real question is should I get my ccna and then shoot for my ccnp. Like I said I do not have much experience but I am aiming for a start. I suppose it will not hurt to have the higher level cert. I am just trying to get my foot in the door with networking. At the present moment I have can afford to put a lot of time into studying the material. Is practical to gain the enterprise level certs without the proper experience?

Work on your CCNA and finding a job. Once you have a job you will have plenty of time to go for other certifications and the experience to back them up.

I would recommend the Cisco Networking Academy. And extra study on your own.
