What IOS is recommended to use for GNS3 and the CCNP ROUTE exam?
Is 12 ok? Or is the latest and greatest better for now? I think I have version 12 on one of my routers.
I know its just not a copy/paste thing..just trying to make sure I have the right tools to start with...

Thanks all

and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Happy New Year to you as well!!!

I think you could get by with just IOS 12.4, but I would wait to hear what a CCNP has to say. All the newer versions can easily be acquired online, Google is your friend :)

I used both 12 and 15 and they are more or less identical when it comes to command syntax, which is what you would care about. The most notable exception is that the IP SLA commands are reworked, but I believe that applies to late 12 releases as well. Another thing that I noticed was that peering BGP over IPv6 link locals worked out of the box in 12, but 15 complained about something that I never bothered to researcher further. It's kind of outside the scope, but if you are doing that particular lab in the 101 CCNP labs book, it's something you would want to know. Finally, and I don't know if this is a GNS3 thing or not, but 15 scrolls multi page output instantly while 12 doesn't. That alone makes 15 nicer to work with.
