2014 is almost here and with that comes new year resolutions. The econony is supposedly getting better and that should translate into more opportunities.

What certificates/degrees/new jobs are you targeting in 2014?

I plan to save a ton of money this year, my resolution is no big purchases (house, land, cars, boats, tig welders, etc...). There's always something.

I also plan to finish WGU this year and get a decent yield from my garden this summer.

Same here, I would love to own some land. I want to move out of state someday though, I fear being tied down to property in my current location.

Certification wise, I plan to face the beast 1-on-1 and attempt the CCIE DC lab before summer. That is if there are any seats available. I would also like to get into the world of consultancy part-time without endangering my current job. Don't know where to start yet but I'm very optimistic.

My resolutions are all non IT related. I might do the CISSP, but maybe not. Don't care about certs anymore to be honest. I'm still learning on the job though.

4. Start CCIE studies

2. CCNP R&S somewhere in between my school work plan on completing by june
3. Start looking for new job opportunities in the summer
4. Stay motivated to go to the gym at 5:30 a.m

Holy FishCakes Batman! That is one long list of certs in a year! I salute you if you make it through half of those this year, partially down to having a wife and the amount of material you need to soak in whilst still meeting your husband expectations:D

I made a ton of progress last year towards my goal of working in InfoSec (accomplished). This year I plan on building a stronger Linux foundation and learn a programming language or two.

Linux+ (Q1)
Learn basic Bash/Python or Ruby (Q2/3)
Hopefully 1 other Security Cert - OSCP or a GIAC cert (Q4)

They say you're less likely to achive your goals if you publicly announce them. So I'll just be vague:

Get more certs than A+
Get the job I'm currently targeting.

I believe my 2014 new years resolutions mirror exactly what I said for 2013. Pass my ICND2 - shouldn't be hard since I work with Cisco equipment all day for work.

Study for CCNP and hopefully pass all by December 2014.

The reason for me slacking is:

My wife and I moved.
My wife and I had a baby

which means all spare time is gone.
I had to let my technician go due to the fact he was useless at his job. It's my fault though. We should have given a more technical interview. Lesson learned.
