Informal interviews over drinks/food/happy hour?

Has anyone had any experience with these? It seems like an end of workday scenario with a non-corporatized company. Interested to see if any TE'ers have gone through this non-standard interview process.

Yes, usually as a second or third interview. When you go the extra mile, there's no traffic. -

Happens quite frequently in the DC area with contracting jobs. -

Not quite the same, but I had an interview in Starbucks once. I didn't take the offer because something better came up a few days later. -

I had an informal lunch interview on a job I was referred to. I much prefer interviews like this that are conversational and you get to see what it would actually be like to work for the person.
I treated it as if I were already part of their team and we just got a bit more in depth about my background and future aspirations. -

I've had interviews over lunch or coffee. We've invited guys to happy hour to meet the team a couple times if we are definitely going to make an offer. An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.
