Hi,

I have a question about the "Video-Integration Troubleshooting Example" in the book, chapter 8 page 417.

On page 423/424 they say that DSW1 is the root, but they also say that from ASW1 Po2 is blocked and Po1 is the root port. How can this be possible? Po2 is the direct connection to the root, so how can it be blocked?

The book I'm referring to is "Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks (Foundation Learning Guide)" by the way.

Direct connection or not, if Po1 has a lower root path cost, it becomes the root port. For this to be true there would have to be a manual cost configuration involved or Po1 has a higher bandwidth. It could also be a mistake; have you checked the errata at ciscopress.com?

    Nothing in errata.
    Costs are the same.
