I don't have any personal experience with it, but from what I hear the first exam is very similar to the CCNA and the second exam gets more into data center tech and NX_OS

I think the CCNA Data Center might be my next cert.

The 1st half does seem like CCENT + NX-OS.

The first half is a cake walk. It's CCENT-lite. You can download Wendell Odom's free simulator from his blog and get through it. The second is a little bit tougher just because you have to memorize the SAN, unified fabric, UCS terminology plus you really need to know the different ports and features of various MDS, Nexus and fiber extenders. Basically study the product pages for the second test

I am thinking of getting into it right after i pass ccent since thats where I want to end up is in a datacenter to get high exposure to networking and equipment

Even if you take the CCENT, you're still going to have to take both the CCNA Data Center exams - just a heads up.

My CCNA R&S certification expires in four months. I intended to take a CCNP exam by this date, but life happens. I found out I can take the first exam 640-911 and it will renew my CCNA. So far I can say its pretty much an easier exam than the ICND 1 test. From the reviews of the book, all you need is Todd Lammel's book and you will pass the exam. I can't believe each exam cost 250.00 bucks. So CCNA-DC costs $500, I think that is a bit much considering the full CCNA-RS was only 250.

It's on my to-do list.

My co-worker took both exams the same the day. Said the first was basic CCNA level. The second half was where all the good stuff was (Nexus, Storage, UCS technologies) he did mention it was very high level and theory based.
