IOU Bug List

EdTheLadEdTheLad Member Posts: 2,111 ■■■■□□□□□□
Just thought i might start a thread to keep account of different features that don't work on IOU.
Don't ask me for these iou versions, they are available on the net if you search hard enough.

I want to focus this thread on the current versions and the most stable previous version. When i find a bug i will verify across both images to see if it works on one. During my labbing i plan to switch between these versions to hopefully get a workable solution. There are so many other releases it would be impossible for me to check them all, but maybe you could? icon_smile.gif .

I'm hoping my fellow IOU users can update this thread by quoting the BugList and incrementing the count with any bugs you encounter and possible iou versions that work. Maybe this thread could get pinned?

If anyone comes across a more recent iou release please let us know.

Thanks in advance!

BugList

1) i86bi_linux_l2-adventerprise-ms.nov11-2013-team_track, doesn't forward the ldp multicast hello pkts, thought this might be issue with multicast, but ospf DR forms through it, so no idea why the LDP pkt has an issue. The previous L2 image i86bi_linux_l2-upk9-ms.june20_2012_golden_spike works.

btw NAT does work, once enabled it takes about a minute for router to start responding otherwise it looks like it crashed.

Thanks, when i get a chance i'm going to test afew features like hsrp and i'll look at NAT for the new releases and update the list.
Keep them coming though, eventually we'll have all of them and we'll know what to look for when a new release comes out.

So it works apart from being able to ping the vip? Not a biggie if that's the case.

Is that a big problem though? I mean it depends on whether or not you are dependent on building full labs in IOU.

Initially I was going to but now I don't think I will bother. Too much time could be spend wondering whether or not you have configured something incorrectly - while all the time it's an IOU bug...

I agree with this. It's not so much of a problem when doing individual technology work but when you do full mock labs the complexity of mixing up all these technologies with an IOU bug can make troubleshooting very time consuming.

Yes - it's great for individual labs - and for things like testing routing protocols it's great.

I can't get EIGRP message authentication to work with IOU. Probably the same thing for other protocols but never did try it out. Too buggy in my opinion.

outside of the features that are not clearly supported. some of the others I have been able to track down to either the image or the overall cpu usage.

BFD doesn't work for me, even without Echo mode. The commands take under the interfaces and all of the routing protocols but no session will come up

This image seems to have issues in general with passing packets. Consistently dropped my GRE packets today on one of the interfaces, resulting in some not so funny troubleshooting that turned out to be a huge waste of time. I'd probably avoid this image.

This IOU version has problems with LDP and RIP multicast not beeing passed through the switches because of IGMP snooping. Disable IGMP snooping on the switches and you should see peering come up. ;)

Both cisco 360 and lab use, although AFAIK L2 runs on SPARC

    L3:
    i86bi_linux-adventerprisek9-ms.153-1.3.T

    L2:
    i86bi_linux_l2-ipbasek9-ms.may8-2013-team_track

I found both stable, also no need to disable igmp snooping for MCAST to work.
