LX0-101 - Friday 2nd May

Kinet1cKinet1c Member Posts: 604 ■■■■□□□□□□
Got this exam coming up next Friday, due to how my shift falls I've got Mon-Fri off so going to spend the week going through Roderick's book, LinuxAcademy videos and MeasureUp practice test.

Had hoped to get this done earlier in the year but starting a new job with a change to shift based work made things difficult.

Passed with 690/800. There was defo a few guessed that came through for me.

Waiting to hear about training for part 2 in work before moving on it so may start prepping for VCP again.

Looks like I'm taking part 2 on Thursday, have really knuckled down on it since passing the first a few weeks back. A good chunk of it is stuff I've done on my own before like ssh/basic sql/networking(CCNA)/X so it was a case of filling in the gaps.

Will report back on how I get on afterwards. icon_study.gif

Found it tougher than the first, took longer to complete but passed with a 650/800.

On to VCP but will be looking at either LPIC2 or RHCSA next year, really enjoyed learning more about *nix.

Just wanted to do a follow up post about this cert. Since passing it's given me confidence to start looking at automating some stuff in work, set up some basic crons and looking to expand on this.

Even something as obtaining a list of files for someone. A simple command:

    ls <dir> >> file.txt

Whereas before I probably would've taken a screenshot which would've resulted in them having to type it out instead of copy + paste. It's the simple things :)

Definitely going to look at LPIC2/RHCSA next year.

Do you use a Linux workstation at work? Or do you mean when working on *nix servers?

I'm working on *nix servers in work, unfortunately it's a windows workstation. Use Fedora/Ubuntu at home.

    What study guide is that?
  • sasnimrodsasnimrod Member Posts: 99 ■■■□□□□□□□
@CertMon It's a summary that covers the core concepts for each of the two Linux+/LPIC-1 exams. It's available for download on the linuxacademy.com website once you have a paid subscription.
