Storage+ Training materials

Does anyone know of any good Storage+ training materials?

I deal with storage servers and SANs on a semi-daily basis so i know i wouldn't need too much studying time but I'd prefer to read a book or watch a video series that covers the entire the test instead of trying to piece it together based on the objectives.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Comptia recommends some book I've never heard of found here:

The exam is based on the old SNIA Storage Networking Foundations exam. An E course can be found here:

Otherwise the only other (and cheaper) route seems to be picking up any storage book you can find and aligning it with Comptia's objectives. The EMC ISA is one option or one of the older SNIA S10-101: Storage Network Foundations books.

need... no but i like have a well rounded knowledge of products I'm responsible for and at work we sell a lot of storage servers. Also my employer will reimburse me for the test fees so it all works out

Is there any software that can help get familiar with storage device, like PT for CCNA? Or, certain economical hardware device?

NetApp has the ONTAP simulator, but you have to be a customer/partner to get it. EMC has the UberVNX, but it's really limited and hasn't been updated in some time. You could use free/trials like Nexenta, Openfiler, HP LeftHand demos, etc. The thing is that Storage+ is pretty vendor neutral and if you've used any storage vendor, they all seem to call things different terms for their products which would make things very confusing.

If I was studying for the exam I'd probably hit some of these books.

I recently keep being asked about SANs and NAS and troubleshooting iSCSI clusters, etc. Fed up with answering "I know what these thigns are but I dont have any experience with them" I tried to look for something that explains it well.. and the only recently published book on the subject is the one I linked above. Why is this information so hard to find and why is storage+ not even recommending a single self study book?

This is what frustrates me with Comptia. Their popular certs like A+, Net+, Security+, and Linux+ all have official books that you can easily get a hold of. But when they release more specialized certifications the don't do anything to support them.

Also lets me honest Comptia+ generally has the easiest certification exams, and with my knowledge and knowing that its multiple choice I could probably play my odds and pass the test. But i choose not to because I feel like that would be cheapening the value of the certification. It's annoying that the old official training material from Comptia is the teacher and student course work for a classroom setting. They don't even have anything for storage+ in there own e-learning course. At least with Microsoft certification when they don't write a book they will have online courses through them you can take.

I agree, I want to get my Storage+ too since I work with it everyday but am having a very difficult time finding some study materials to read. For this particular Cert its hard to find anything...

I don't know why NetApp limited the use of their simulators, unless it was to sell more classes. I used to have access to it when I worked at a place that had their products, but not any more. I have used the below simulator, but not recently. Last time I used it, Sun was still Sun.

I already had an Oracle account, so I used that to log in. I had trouble downloading it with Firefox, so I used Explorer.

AiiM is a well known and respected organization that offers high quality training in storage, ERM, ECM, and it is surprises me that no one mentions it. I'm more interested in Records Mgt and already have an MSLIS so for those that are wanting to learn more or obtain training in storage can check it out. Link is: About AIIM

I passed Storage+ Back in December. The two most helpful study resources for me were Ucertify Practice Exam/Training and the EMC Proven Professional Book (use the exam objectives to study the appropriate topics, however the content is quite similar).

Granted I work with SANs, 10gbe FCoE Network Cards and storage servers on a daily basis at work. But a lot of the test material was new to me and these two resources were enough to pass the exam with a good score.

McGraw Hill will be releasing the CompTIA authorized Storage+ study guide towards the end of this year. The guide will include one practice test.

CompTIA will be revising this cert in April 2014 so the McGraw Hill book has been pushed back to be released sometime after April.
