How intense of a Microsoft exam is the 70-410?

The reason why I ask is my Server experience isn't fantastic. I have great experience in Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft Exchange but apart from that not else where, as that's where my job focuses on.

How intense is this exam. The 70-680 was bad enough lol now my manager has put me down for this icon_sad.gif I have CBT nuggets and the official MS press guide.

I've seen quite a few fail stories here. It seems more powershell heavy than prior exams. I'm mainly focusing on powershell, revisiting subnetting, and ipv6. Along with freshening up on hyper-v

I've got a lab going with server core installs, and full installs with 2012 r2. Been going through some of the following

Adding computer objects via powershell to a domain,
Modifying computer objects via powershell to a domain,
Installing GUI shell to a server core install via powershell,
Modifying NIC properties such as IP address, subnet mask, def gw via powershell,
Modifying/viewing windows firewall properties through PS,

Revisiting finding most efficient subnet masks for various Class A, B, C ranges

    Differences/meaning behind IPV6 prefixes,

I got my old 2000 MCSE back in 2002. Been doing AD administration for a while, and see Azure/server core/powershell as the future of Microsoft Server product. Makes sense under a lot of scenarios. Hopefully the 70-410 will test powershell knowledge. I'm more confident in the other areas on the exam so far.

I've been debating if I want to get the 2012 server cert. I'm almost tempted to wait until 2016 after reading all the fails on here lol...

You have so many cert.. it should be easy for you. For me it's my very first time trying to get any cert since I been in the I.T field for years doing help desk and other stuff. I didn't pass it but i'm still trying to learn my mistakes, and not get to nervous that I forget stuff.

Yeah. Did you find that time was not an issue in this exam? As you had plenty of time.

Well I gave myself about a month... This time around i'm giving myself about 2 months to study. Right now i just started once again from the bottom up. We will see how it goes.

Just need to find the right material to study. I'm more of a structor guy. I like to follow examples while I read ... makes it easier for me to follow and learn that way.

Yes, PowerShell is covered in the exam, however it's getting to the point where if you are working with Servers you almost need to be comfortable with PowerShell for real-world server administration. Example, Your company might decide to deploy Server Core to save resources. Also, a LOT of Exchange tasks can only be done in PowerShell and tasks that can still be done in the GUI can take FOREVER to run on a large number of accounts (let's change the default mobile policy for EVERY exchange user in the forest, not so bad to do manually with 10 users, but impossible to do manually with 14,000). I would recommend Don Jones' and Jeffery Hicks' book Learn Windows PowerShell 3 in a Month of Lunches.

Yeah, I agree I started learning it when it came out, and it's a must for exchange. We just went from 07 to 13 exchange. The Exchange Admin Center in 2013 is horrid.

nachodba, I am trying to learn PowerShell 4 with not much experience of PowerShell in general. How relevant is Learn Windows PowerShell 3 in a Month of Lunches to the new Cmdlets in PS 4? Thanks.
