I haven't made a post here in a while, but I came across this on Facebook. Not sure where I should post this thread, but thought I should share here. Here you go.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I just finished my Linux+ the other day and was looking for something to work on next. BTW, it only costs $50 for the first 500 people who sign up. I just registered and will share my experience once I take the exam (you have 12 months to schedule after registering).

Well.. I bit the bullet, I chose CentOS (as it is a Red Hat clone)

I chose CentOS as well. I have been considering going for a RHCSA/RHCE, so I figured that would be the best one

Call me crazy, but I bit the bullet as well. Picked CentOS, as I had used that quite a bit when setting up a virtual test network a few months ago.

I've signed up, but I don't see any course books, anyone know what the curriculum is, or where I can watch training videos, download books, etc?

I am going to be starting off with the videos available through the Linux Academy, and the following books I picked up for the Linux+ and RHCE exams:

- LPI Linux Certification in a Nutshell
- RHCSA/RHCE Red Hat Linux Certification Study Guide (Jang)

I will add any others I come across.

Like you, I signed up for it. Took a few lessions. In looking at the new Linux cert, I think I know most of the subjects, except for LVM. I am worried about the performance based aspect.

If you signed up for CentOS, just use Red Hat's plethora of free documentation on access.redhat.com

I wonder if it is really worth the money you'll pay for it? If you have RHCE or some SLES/LPIC certs what is the reason to get another Linux cert? I couldn't find any of the Linux Foundation certifcations in any job requirements so what is the point to get LFCS or LFCE if you are RHCE or even RHCA?

I wonder the same thing. These certs are fairly new, what's the value to employers?

For me the value is a low cost test to see if I am ready for the other certs. Currently I am not being pressed for any certs at work, but that may change. I am fairly confident in the Red Hat area, at least for this test, since that is what I support. Debian is another story. As well as Suse. I work on one Suse machine.

I doubt many employers know it exists yet since it was literally just announced. Being that it's completely performance based I expect the LFCS to be more in-depth than the LPIC-1 for instance and more on par with the Red Hat exams. I realize that most of the Linux community doesn't seem to value certs but at this discounted price point of $50 it almost seems like a no brainer.

Come on, of course it's not going to have much value or be seen in any postings at this very second. As others have said it is extremely new. The Veeam certification has been around longer and it still doesn't show up anywhere.

I've been looking for an excuse to take a Linux cert and move from my eternal newbie status. Signed up for it. What the heck.

I think I am going to do the Redhat exams and then do this one in Ubuntu on the side ( you can change it even after you register ). Redhat would certainly be more recognised and would be required in some jobs.
This one might be good but it will take a while for employers to know about it and recognise it as being equal to Redhat (if it is).

Couldn't turn down $250 off anyway ! Damn certs are a rip off. Dropping €400 on Redhat. uggh..

Sorry, Pupil--this promotion ended on the 24th. Hopefully, they will have another round of discounted exams as they continue to get the word out.

Not I, I signed up, but don't have a real feel on its difficulty. The one review I saw, the guy failed it, but took it again. I don't know if he passed the second time. I will be real good and ready before I use my voucher.
