data recovery software?

basically, at work i have a user who stored all her important data onto her local HDD instead of our nas. has any one come across good free data recovery software that works?

ive heard linux fire is gd?

McAfee has one with a name so close that I don't know why they have not been sued. There must be so arrangement that is not obvious

Of course all of that depends on the drive being able to initialize. If it is clicking and the bios doesn't recognize it, only a datacenter is going to recover the data. And that is very pricey. Someone I know had that problem and checked, $1800 average.

my god! some of that stuff is pricey!

like any company they dont mind investing in I.T aslong as its free

all joking aside that is way too pricey! some of those qoutes are ridiculous

I use File Scavenger 3 for recovering deleted files and data from formatted disks. It's only $49US.

well they claim it is critical but i am doubtful as they have said they can live without the data to avoid the cost!

just getting tired of 'you have to recovery my data, but I"m not paying you for your time nor will I pay for you to use a utility to let you use less time.....so, if it's not important to them then educate them on a better backup system /rant
