disk defrag on a SBM or any server

Guys,

I defrag my hard drive sometimes (less on a ssd) but does the idea of defragging still apply to a RAID-Based server array's on a domain controller or member servers for instance that has a exchange/SQL database on it.

I have a few instances at work were customer SBM servers have jack-of-all-trades DC's that have upward of 50 percent fragmentation and perform like carp... but I'm hesitant to defrag them because of the databases.

Thoughts?
