Put in my resignation

So I received an offer and gave my company my resignation this week.
I start with my new company, Lockheed Martin, on Dec 29. My last day with my current company, SanDisk, is on the 19th.

I am going to miss where I work currently, but I know I am going to enjoy where I am headed as well.

Congrats man. I had the same issue when I left my old company, I'm pretty sure the only reason I stayed my final two years was because of the people there.

Congrats man! what kind of position is it? I would LOVE to eventually get a position at Lockheed Martin. Plus they have a pretty big office only about 45 minutes away in KoP PA.

Thanks everyone.
My official title will be Sr Staff Systems Engineer. They wanted someone who knew Active Directory pretty well, and can move around and work on Linux if need be. I feel like I am pretty well rounded, and conveyed that to them. They obviously agreed.

What was supposed to be a 30 minute interview turned out to be an hour and a half of me asking them a lot of questions, which I am guessing they liked. I wanted to be sure it was a good fit for myself, and Lockheed.

Yes, I have a TS/SCI, and I had to go do a polygraph.

Congratulations MrAgent. Is it a contract position or direct hire? I haven't seen many direct hire positions for Lockheed/SAIC/OtherLargeDefenseContractors.

Congrats! I see LH jobs I want to go after all the time, but they only seem to look for candidates who already have a clearance or are prior military.

Its a contract position, but when the contract ends, they look to place people into other positions. I have a while before I have to worry about that.

I know someone there with that same title but I believe he works in Germantown/Gaithersburg (wherever their office is in that area) and he's been with them for a loong time..congrats!

The commute will suck, but not much I can do about it. It should be about an hour commute if I leave my house at 6am.

Oh man, where are you commuting from? I used to live at the intersection of Rt 50 and Fairfax County Pkwy, and getting up to Reston was usually a breeze. My problem was that I would commute to downtown DC... and I had to leave at 0530 every morning to get in to work around 0700. Anyway, good luck in the new position, and with the new commute!

Coming from Gainesville, so I get to sit in 66E traffic. Yay.

That's painful, I used to come in from Front Royal and Gainesville's about where it got terrible.

Congrats on the new job! Lockheed called me right after I started my last job, for a position I had applied for like 6 months prior. I actually regret not taking them up on the interview. Keep us posted on how you are liking your new job.

Congrats on the new spot!! You said it's a contract spot, but I assume you're being contracted out by LH while they pay your salary/benefits/etc?

Yeah its a full time position with LM on a govt contract. I get fantastic pay and benefits with them.
A lot of room for growth, and to move up.
