path to learning/studying for VCP5-DCV

Hi Everyone,

I have two questions. I passed my VCA-DCV now preparing for VCP5-DCV on my HP Proliant G6 server i bought on ebay.
I have already installed ESXi and vsphere client, created virtual machines.

Questions 1. What are some labs/functions I can do to prepare me for the VCP5-DCV exam?

Here is a list of things I can do with my current setup on HP Proliant G6.

-Working with Virtual Machines
-Using Templates and Clones
-Create a host profile
-User permissions
-Resource pools
-alarms

I cannot do I think in one host:
-Migrate virtual machines
-HA
-DRS
Should I buy another server?

You either buy another server or run a nested setup (virtualize the ESXi hosts) assuming you have enough RAM for everything.

vMotion, DRS and HA are good things to get hands on experience with before taking the VCP.

Totally agree, in fact I would do as many things as described in the objectives of the exam blueprint in a lab before attempting the exam.

A nested setup is probably the most common for a home lab.

I have a fresh install of ESXi 5.5 on my HP Proliant DL380G6. How to I copy the iso images to the data stores?
I have 2x146GB serial ssci 10k..

You can use the vSphere Client to do this, there's an option when you browse a datastore.

Thanks. I figured it out after my post.

Forgive me if I am not working my question correctly but what's is the best practice for managing my HP SCSI disk.
I have have 4x146GB serial ssci 10k.
1x146GB for nestex ESXI 1 & 2
3x146GB for virtual machines
