I am currently a Security Engineer - Penetration tester. I have interviewed for two different jobs but have no idea which route to go because I know web app is huge but the job is a contract to hire position.

1.) Security analyst - assessments. This would be with a different company that pays more than the company I'm leaving, and is a permanent job. Still in negotiating phase
2.) Web App Pen-tester - 6-12 month contract to hire with a bank. Pays way more than security analyst job.

Web Application tester - dice results 36,216
Security Engineer - dice results 25,310

Average pay of a newb per role

Web Tester = 70k
Security Engineer = 40k

Curious, why are you looking to leave your pentesting role? Is it purely a money play?

Do you think you'd like both of them equally? If so, I'd go for the web app pen tester job. 70k vs 40k is a large difference. With that experience I think you could find employment quickly after contract ends.

If your leaving your current job because of the pay, don't take a new job that's only a 2% increase. Have a minimum you will accept and accept nothing less.
