NAT + ACL questions

hey everyone i have some questions..
1)when that nat occurs at the inside interface or outside ?
2)i configure an ACL on interface that restrict some ip addresses and then i configure NAT for them but it seem that NAT
happen before the ACL ??

depends on the platform. I have dealth with some versions of ASA that does NAT after matching an IP ACL, and a few that would apply the ACL after NATting the traffic.
