Hi All,

This is the my first post on this forum.
I'll start by my education. I have 2 year diploma in IT support services. Currently working as a desktop support specialist with 1.5 yrs of experience. I decided to change my career path from desktop to some other feild. I did a lot of self study and managed to pass my ITIL v3 foundation and CCNA on my first try.

I am little confused at the moment about what should be my next step. What according to you will be beneficial for me in the future?
I have considered doing CCNA voice as its growing pretty rapidly in home networks too!

I have also considered doing RHCSA.
Please assist what would be more beneficial for me in the future.

Location: Toronto (Canada)

Thanks.

What about going the InfoSec route? getting some certs like the Security+ or SSCP to start with and working towards bigger ones like the CISSP or CISA/M lots of banks/financial firms (TD, Manulife, SunLife, etc.) are looking for Security individuals in your area (GTA) Red Hat is another desirable cert, VMWare VCP is also a big one in Toronto too, Dell and VMWare are always looking for individuals with it.

It really depends on what field you want to get into. a CCNA and ITIL foundations might get you a Jr. Network Admin job, doing lots of cable runs and crimping, and tracing wires through ceilings and crawl spaces... but over time you may get experience and move onto administering Cisco devices, and work towards the CCNP or something similar. CCIE is a well desired cert for sure, you could continue working towards it.

I'd recommend going for your CCNP R&S now while the CCNA knowledge is still fresh. Then try out CCNA Security & then do the Voice.

Thanks for your Input guys. i have decided to go for RHCSA to get into sys/net admin job to get some experience. My main concern at this point is to get into sys/net admin field. I've been look at some job posting and 99% of them needs atleast 2 years of experience and i have none.

At this point I am trying to expand my knowledge rather than specializing in some particular field.

RHCSA is a good next step. I would also recommend doing the CCNP if you want solid networking.
