Nice. Maybe I'll look at that later this year. I got the exam approval, but I didn't have a chance of finishing it by 2/28

I thought I had read somewhere that VMWare had nixed the whole "ccna in place of having to take the class". I'll have to go double-check now.

Ahh, I don't even remember what I had googled before work this morning when I (maybe?) stumbled across it. I thought I had seen Scott's avatar in the comments though, so perhaps he has better memory than I about this...

However if I go to the VCP5-DCV page (https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=12457&ui=www_cert), I don't see the fine print mentioned in that thread, so ..... I dunno?

Only for VCP-DCV, not Network Virtualization.. which i dont intend on going past getting the VCP-NV anyway..

CCNA will waive VCP-NV course requirements and allow you to take the exam and certify you.

I've also contacted VMware this morning and confirmed twice.

Yeah, I realized after my (second) edit that you might not be doing this to bypass the class-requirements for the DCV, but I didn't want to do a 3rd edit :)

I would like to go after this if I can fit it in before next Jan. I think the learning materials are still pretty scarce, but the official cert guide is due for August: VCP-NV Official Cert Guide (VMware Press Certification): 9780789754806: Computer Science Books @ Amazon.com

There are plenty of resources out there on the blogs mate, don't wait for the official guide, who knows how good it's going to be.
