Voice introduction

Hi all, which material would you suggest to someone without any voice experience to read in order to successfully install, configure and maintain/troubleshoot a Cisco voice solution.

    Hi there. Try these:

    - CBT Nuggets: Jeremy Cioara's CCNA Voice nugget series (Cisco VoIP CCNA Voice ICOMM 640-461 Video Training Online | CBT Nuggets)

This and a bit of hands-on with the Kit and you're good to go.

If you're wondering about what kit to use, try this for starters:

    - 1 x 2801 Router with a voice-enabled IOS
    - 1 x PVDM2-8 or PVDM2-16 (these are DSP resources for Media termination - POTS ports -, conferencing, transcoding etc)
    - 1 x VIC2-2FXS for some good old analogue phones
    - 2 x Cisco 7940 or 7960 IP phones
    - 1 x 3550 Switch for PoE and QoS
    - VMware to virtualize CUCM, Unity and CUPS

    [X] CCNP Switch 300-115 [X] CCNP Route 300-101 [X] CCNP Tshoot 300-135
    [ ] LPIC1-101 [ ] LPIC1-102 (wishful thinking)

    Thanks mate
You're most welcome. You can also make very good use of GNS3 for a lot of the CME/CUBE stuff. The above will get your taste buds wet on CUCM, CME, Voice Gateways etc
If you want to take it to the next level (or certify) then you have another 5 exams for the CCNP Voice track.
Good luck on your journey! :)
