messaging recruiters on LinkedIn?

what's the best way to reach out to or message recruiters on LinkedIn about jobs? Is there some proper or etiquette way? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying to relocate (pretty much anywhere but where I live)

I'm in the same situation. I sent a few a LinkedIn connection invite, w/ a personalized message inside the invite.
If you get the free-trial of LinkedIn premium you can also send InMail.

you must be the only person who is not contacted by recruiters on LinkedIn xD

jokes aside, just add them. They will accept your invitation.

Don't overdo it for a same contact. Otherwise he may think you are in desperate search for a job.

Just message them the same way they email you but shorter.

My name is xyz and I am hoping we can possibly discuss about some positions doing ABC.

They will accept I am sure

This is what LinkedIn is used for- the recruiters want to find qualified candidates just as much as you want to find a job!

I regularly get added by recruiters and I don't have as detailed a profile as others (job titles, but no job descriptions).

If you live in an area with a lot of IT employment opportunities and are currently gainfully employed, you should get contacted by recruiters quite frequently. What part of Utah are you located?

I have bunch added as contacts but I just wasn't quite sure how to start the conversation at first. Sounds like I should just be very outright (but professional) asking them about opportunities :). I live in Logan Utah........ very very very small in the IT game icon_sad.gif

Have you thought about relocating to the SLC area? Seems like a decent area for IT opportunities. Looks like you are about 1.5 hours away, so not too far from home.
