You have to define, segment what?
Routers segment networks, otherwise known as broadcast domains.
Switches on the other hand, segment collision domains but not broadcast domains.
Routers also segment collision domains, but only because a collision domain can only belong to one network/broadcast domain. -

Different meaning of segment. You can segment a physucal LAN, you can segment a network, etc.
Like I said, segment what? -

I think he must mean segmenting a network, if discussing routers.
ROUTERS = Network layer 3 of the OSI model.
A router segments a network by a subnetting scheme, routers also provide default gateways to guide packets through to the next network or subnet, like when you connect to the Internet from a private network, the default gateway of the router will send the packets to the next network i.e the Internet.Future planned exams are as follows: CCNA, Windows 2003 Server 70-290
