How many pencils to bring to the exam.

Hi All,

Silly but important question, how many pencils should I take with me to the exam?

I am thinking about getting a 1 mm mechanical pencil as a backup if it is allowed.

<The last time that I used a pencil for an exam was in third grade :D>

Thanks.

2-3 sharped HB2 pencil will suffice. But do bring pencil sharper. Mechanical pencil may not qualified to be replacement of HB2. The idea is to cover the response bubble completely so that scan-tron can function with accuracy.

I used mechanical pencils all the time during my standardized tests throughout grade school.
I usually brought 2 mechanical pencils. Even if you have enough "lead" in the pencil, a random act of god can always destroy the pencil itself, such as bending the spring, projectile-firing the eraser, or shattering the pencil barrel - good to have a back-up weapon just in cases.

Have you guys received notification about exams where it would be located? In Bahrain considering it's area commute may not be a big issue.

Whatever you choose, do not forget to bring eraser. That will be life saver. For some questions, you will be the victim of "Answer Flappging", is A correct or B or D... In CBT you can mark those questions and just change the choice. For paper exams, a good quality eraser will be a real life saver.

Yes, I have the location, it is on the admission Ticket, it is a 15 KM away so less than 30 minutes drive on a weekend (10 minutes to get out of town - 10 minutes highway drive - 10 minutes to get to the hotel).

One thing I learned from a bad exam experience, always test the equipment before the exam .. you don't want to be stuck with a bad pen or an eraser that does not erase.
