yeah, i am studying MCSE Messaging should (should) have it done by
Dec 07. 8 exams; i am taking it conservatively(3months to study and learn each exam) i dont have any experience with Server 2003; we just got them at work and well learning alot more than just to be a papered MCSE. I think (since I am old) hahah that you have to learn by doing and reading of course. I take 70-270 in 3 weeks; have to only slot open at our nearest testing center ;( but studying daily XP scenarios. and handson.

I would say when i fixed something catestrophic "whose your daddy!" then
one employee said IT Daddy; i said yeah! whoseyou IT Daddy!??
you are robert they said! and thats how my BIG fat ego started.

I work for a USA credit union! we only have 30 servers and about 200 clients. that span 4 buildings by T1 WAN link but we are growing and have
a Unix box all MS$$ servers 2000 and 2003 and XP and 2000 pro clients.
and a pure Cisco shop as well switches routers and vpn routers
not really looking forward to vista

2007 server i am but not vista!
i am a command line geek;
my goal is to finish MCSE and hit the cisco track like a "bat out of hell!"
i love comman line and see that Cisco engineering is for me; i hope

hope i can contribute to this tech form all i know and have experiencedl
we can do it together!

You sound like me. Old, late starter (I was almost 30 when I got into computers), I also manage a small LAN of 400+ computers and 25+ servers across a 300 acre campus (we connect to the WAN via dual T-1's, but all our building are connected via fiber) and we are all MS/Cisco. I also love command line and scripting stuff. I've been in SC for less than 3 years, but was in Iowa for 14 years prior and Illinois for 7 years before that. I made a few sojurns into Big Cheese country (House on the Rocks, Jetski on Lake, Dells, etc). Always had a good time.

yeah, i am 39 right know been working in IT cisco and MS$ directly
System Admin stuff for 2 years; love the area; but always
lacks knowleged; i need much more training for all this stuff outu there
gonna get it if it kills me; and it just might!

moreover, i hate have to resort to reinstall methods;
i really want to find out what really is going on. i am not satisfied with
"let's reinstall it!" i enjoy findingthe real reasons for things

I can understand that. If it is your own system, you can afford to do that. But if you have hundreds of sales people who can't do their job, every minute counts. If it can take you 2 hours to restore a system, you don't want to spend 4 hours figuring out what went wrong and how to fix it.

i understand; thank god for reinstall but
i just want to know why?
yeah, in the real world; reinstall is the option vs
trying to figure itout when th heat is on.
i completly understand..
i am a creature of the "i need it now!" kind of things!

That's so true. I used to do like ITdaddy ( troubleshoot instead of reinstall), but soon realized that it wasn't going to work in the corporate world. People want their machines fixed as soon as possible so that they can get their work done or risk losing business.

i like them too; they are just joksters and if you have
too soft shell well it will get cracked; i do like to get jazzed a bit
once you know they mean well!

you have to in the IT world; many cocky and Tough IT people out there
you have to be sharp else you get eaten up by the IT monster!
