Passed CISSP 21/5 - New CBK

Hi all,

Yes, the title is accurate. I took the CISSP today (21/5 in Sydney) and much to my surprise, I was presented with a print out stating I had passed. I was expecting the psychometric/6 weeks bit that everyone else has received. The testing centre had problems loading the test engine delaying the exam for about 30 minutes, so I thought that was a bad omen but not so!

Experience: 4 years in InfoSec/Risk Management (+ Computer Science degree)
Study: 5 months

Shon Harris AIO 6th Edition
Eric Conrad (and 11th Hour)
Total Tester
McGraw Hill test engine
Shon Harris mp3s
Official Guide 4th Edition
Skillset (hit and miss)
Bootcamp (ISC)2

AIO got me through it, but the 11th hour turned out to be a life saver. Wonderful book to read in the week leading up to the exam. For the new material I think your best bet is to focus on the testing domain chapter in the new official guide, and just know the basics of newer technology referenced throughout.

I'd say the 'old' material covered around 85-90% of the exam content, but that's just a guess.

As for the exam itself, I honestly had no idea if I was going to pass or not. At times I felt as though I were failing, then at other times I felt like I was tracking well enough to pass. I have gained more respect for the cert...it really, really tests how well you know your stuff. A lot of the times I was tested on a component of a concept I thought I knew completely, but not so. Both eye opening and frustrating. I passed in 5hrs 48mins.

There were a few simple questions in there, but most you had to give a lot of thought to. A select few made very little sense to me.

Anyway, I hope that made sense. I'm exhausted!

Congrats to you & good sign for everyone overall.
Looks like they finally managed to decide the "cut-off" point.

So we will soon hear the result of psychoanalysis next week may be before 27th May 2015. I suggest to check your email in the morning, afternoon and at night so that you do not miss the announcement for ISC2.

Congratulations , this is truly a good sign to everyone using the old booksicon_smile.gif

I've been planning to take the same in August. Except for the bootcamp. I got most of the course-ware set right.
Contemplating I need to spend $3500 for a bootcamp? icon_smile.gif
Or Spend 5 hours/day on self study.

I compared the 8 new domains to the 10 older domains. The only NON-matching domain I found was below

    NO MATCHING DOMAIN
Asset Security (Protecting Security of Assets)

How did you study for this particular domain?

The bootcamp was just a run through the material. You can do without it.

Physical Security has been absorbed into another domain. All the old material is relevant.

Congrats on passing the exam, hopefully this is a sign that those of us in limbo awaiting results from the psychoanalysis will soon find out if we've passed the exam. Well done.

Sucks to still be waiting weeks after taking the test though. ISC2 just sent me an email, I opened it on pins and needles, and it was just a conference invitation. Not cool!

Yes that's the one. Quite a few questions relating to this section and software dev.

    Congratulations!

I still don't think I can manage to force my mind to believe that I'll get my results instantly in June until I see at least one more similar post but this is already slightly lifting some weight off of my shoulders.

Thanks for taking the time to share with the community!
