Hi guys,

This is a network+ question from free-tests.com. Can please someone tell me which questions are right and why?

From Host A you have the follwing IP configuraation: IP address: 192.168.1.242 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.241 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.240. Which of the following IP addresses will require routing to a separate network? (Select 2)
1) 192.168.1.254
2) 192.168.1.24
3) 216.168.1.240
4) 192.168.1.249

Thanks.

    Thanks.

    Subnet mask 255.255.255.240 , 256 -240 = 16
    subnet range 0,16,32.......etc 240,
valid hosts in subnet range 241->254 , broadcast address 255
Answer to your question is (2) as it is not an address belonging to the subnet 240, all the other addresses fall between 240 and 255.
Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$

Hate to tell you this ed, but you would have gotten the question wrong based on your answer. The questions states "Select 2", so there are two correct answers. #3 is obviously on a separate network as well, as the first octet is not even the same.

    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...
