Great! Going with a new design or improving on the first one?

New design. I have to do about 30-40% of VCDX prep work for something else.

I must be a glutton for punishment. I'm thinking about picking up this thread again.

Keep us in the loop if you do. This is one of things on my far future/possible list (have to finish my CCIE and get my mid level Vmware certs first).

I got to talking to one of the guys on the VCDX panel at the VMUG, he gave me invaluable insight in the VCDX pursuit and what to do for the VCAP.

I heard that for the VCDX-NV they were basically giving the cert away to promote it, they change it cause they weren't yielding people with the appropriate skillz. Like I guess if your a CCIE you be just handed a VCDX-NV and that just wasn't the case...so VMware change it...

VMware isn't as 'easy' as most think... it's defiantly not something in the advanced levels you can just read a book and be an expert. - I mean you can, but realistically how good would that person be?

No. The cert path for the 1st batch were different, but it wasn't cakewalk.

Indeed, Tim was talking about it. It was a learning experience for VMware specifically, now it's harder he said.

When the first 20 or so batch of VCDX:NVs came out, I was like - what the hell, they seem to have handed it out - there was even a long Twitter thread about it. This is just not true, it would've devalued the cert. The first batch, like Dave said, became VCDX:NVs slightly differently than you normally would, but it wasnt easy, that's for sure.

I'm working towards more management/soft skills roles. There is an interesting design I might be doing for a customer. We'll see how it all works out. If I end up with fictitious design, there's no way I'm working on it by myself.

Finally found a really cool design. Problem is that it's vSphere 6. icon_sad.gif

I heard you could submit a vSphere 6 based design for VCDX5. Run it past Colotti to confirm mate.

I'll just pass VCIX6. They aren't that hard.

When the frig are they coming out?

Followed the advise on many to do VCP6-DCV with the plan to do VCIX, but VMware is closed lipped on a ETA of when the friggin' exam is going to be released. So I'm perplexed if I should just do VCAP or twittle my thumbs....

Taking the VCP6 in a few weeks, the book from Nick Marshall is pretty easy, reading it is stupid easy since I deal with this stuff daily; it's funny how a year ago I thought this stuff was hard.

You dont just pass it, at least in CMA land you need to pass two VCAP6 to achieve it

Given the state of technical exams I totally get how one can lose interest.

Sat my first VCAP and I was ready to throw the towel

    VCAP6-CMA Design – What a shambles – Open902.com

Passed at the end but only gave it another shot as I do personally want to aim for the DX next year (CMA). But after that ... Might stop ...

I find myself with some free time, so I guess I'll start up again and see how far I get in the next 2 weeks.
