Storage +: September 26th

So I just scheduled the Storage + exam for Sept. 26th.

Just got done with Chapter 4 in Nigel's book but I'm also reading along side my ICDN2 studies, going for a double threat path. Daring probably but I feel up to the challenge.

Nice! I'm interested in following your study progress. I might attempt to take the exam in October to renew my Security+. Haven't decided yet.

The certification is being axe'd on Jan 16th 2016. I'm doing if for storage knowledge that I already learned for the VCP and to refresh my other 3 CompTIA Tricefta's.

Storage + scheduled, I ended up changing the testing centers.

On the last 3 chapter now, will just take more detailed notes and practice tests till exam day.

I passed it a little while ago, any questions let me know!

Is Nigel Poulton's book enough to pass it? - this book seems just loaded with information, if I know CompTIA exam's probably more than is actually on the exam.

Whelp I've finished the book and now I'm taking detailed notes on things I highlighted.

I'm finding so much of this content a refresher from the VCP5-DCV book. But a bit of it is new, and I like learning more about the topics. To my surprise there is quite a bit of networking involved too....

I can see this knowledge helping me with a few defined IT roles. icon_biggrin.gif

A month till exam day maybe too long. But I guess extra time for review is better than rushing it. Will just keep doing my ICDN2 study more and doing this more lightly.

Goal is for Storage + and CCNA : R&S by December 25th!

I need to get started on the book soon myself. Was it an easy read? Dry or engaging?

....Took me about 3 weeks to read it. Not that dry, just very factual. I thought it was interesting because it has network and VMware concepts that overlap on other study from this year.

....My problem was balancing ICDN2 and this book in time, there both interesting reads.

I think I may reschedule it for a earlier date. Re-read the book again, glazing over the highlighted information.

Tons of bloat reading in the book highlights are definitely needed.

Just finished the CBT Nuggets videos last night.

I saw Plusarsight had videos on it too that might check out, but September 26th might be too long.

Figured it would be a harder study but it's really not, CCENT and VCP5-DCV have a ton of overlap in stuff I already know...

Sweet, I called up Pearson Vue and they told me that the website didn't have the testing center listed online for the one on Weekends. I called up the MA testing center and they said they did offer the exam and were a Pearson Vue certified testing center as it says on the owner of the locations business card so I asked for the testing center site number and I called up Pearson Vue and they said they 'found it' they said and reschedule it for the 19th.

So now I can take all my exams at this center on weekends moving forward...

Those shady people at Pearson I swear...

Whelp I just redid the CBT Nuggets videos. I just used my vExpert Pluralsight subscription and just started watching their videos.

On a flip side I just finished the 1st two sections of ICDN2 book from Odom's book.

Two weeks till Storage + and 7 weeks till ICDN2!!

Finished his book, now doing his Pluralsight videos and I just did Jeremey's CBT Nuggets videos. Most know Jeremy who does CCNA videos with Keith Baker.

    60% through the Pluralsight videos.

How do you have the money for all of these training courses like CBT Nuggets and Pluralsight? My god are you rich or something? lol Best of luck with your Storage+. I'm pretty sure with your VCP behind you things should go well.

Already had a CBT Nuggets. vExpert gave me Pluralsight for a year recently as of last week.

But yes I have a ton of overlap from VCP5-DCV. In fact VCP5-DCV holds more value over Storage+ since it covers mostly everything but it renews all my CompTIA certs until I do CASP in 2017 for my security push.

Exam is Saturday, any pointers from those that took the exam in the past?
  • bjpeterbjpeter Member Posts: 198 ■■■□□□□□□□
My strategy is if you don't know an answer, guess and flag. Be sure to double-check all the questions if you have time. I had enough time to double-check everything after one pass. I think I turned in the exam with 10-15 minutes left.

I hate answering the survey questions at the end. It adds to the suspense, but I passed.

Deathmage late congrats on passing the Storage+ exam.

CompTIA exams are fab for learning/polishing those fundamentals. It is unfortunate there's not that much material on Storage certs.

Just learnt of the Storage+ retiring in Jan 2016. SNIA will be launching a new exam and credential in it's place.

"SNIA to offer new storage certification examination and credential early next year."
