Vmware 5.5 trials

Hi
Just wondering if it's possible to download trial versions of esxi 5.5, vcenter 5.5 etc now that 6.0 is out. I've been on myvmware to try signing up to the 5.5 trials and when clicking through it then takes you to the version 6 downloads.
Maybe I'm missing something but I couldn't easily find the older versions. Going to be doing the Stanley course but also want to do my own labs also to try things out and as I'm looking at taking the 5.5 exam in the future thought it would be best to use that version.

I don't think the 6.0 will be an impedance to the Stanley class. I'm signed up for the October class but so far walking through the stuff it's not a hard translation. I hope this helps.These articles and posts are my own opinion and do not reflect the view of my employer.

Have you just been having a general read through things at the minute or have you started anything in depth? I've been reading through the first couple of chapters of the mastering vmware book just to get a bit of an insightGoals for 2019: ICND2 first of all then see how it goes.

Scanned through it. I set up a ESXi host when I was studying for the VCA and slowly started expanding out more. Unless someone else wants to chime in for the differences in 5.5 to 6.0 that would be a serious hindrance, I think we are good.
I know there are some branding differences for certain technologies but that's something an easy google search can remedy.These articles and posts are my own opinion and do not reflect the view of my employer.

Vsphere download page will default to latest version. On left hand side towards the top there is a dropdown to choose older versions to download. -

Yeah I saw the drop down and went to the 5.5 page but then when you select the trial on that page it re-directs you again to the V6 download.
Contacted Vmware who have confirmed they only offer trials for the latest products so I'll just have to use 6Goals for 2019: ICND2 first of all then see how it goes.

This poses a good question though. For practical purposes, would it be better to learn v5.5 and use some additional time to study the differences or upgrades between that version and v6 or would it be better to simply learn 6? I mean, the purpose is to put this information to use in a production environment, and we all know that just because the manufacturer comes up with a newer version of the software, it isn't going to be instantly and automatically adopted by those shops that are currently running v5.5.2017 Goals: 70-411 [X], 74-409 [X], 70-533 [X], VCP5-DCV [], LX0-103 [], LX0-104 []

Hi guys, I downloaded the vsphere client, free esxi but I read somewhere that vcenter will not work with free esxi, can anyone confirm this as that would be a major bummer as I've now got my esxi lab setup with vsphere client but want to learn and use vcenter.

No, you cannot add the free ESXi host to vCenter as it does not include the vCenter agent. If you want to add the host to vCenter you basically need to remove the license key - this would turn the host into an Enterprise Plus host with 60 days trial days remaining.
