Passed both a+ exams

Hey all, thought I would post as I have finally passed the a+ exams and am officially certified. On both exams I scored in the 820+ range. I did feel as though the sims on the 802 were a bit more difficult. I used all in one, exam cram, and professor messer videos and notes. I spent about 1.5 months studying although I feel I put off the test longer than necessary. Feel free to ask any questions and ill do my best to respond.

    Congratulations!

Regarding your offer for Q&A, just take note you may not discuss your exam including topics on your exam. The NDA you signed prohibits that and this community supports the NDA.

    'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.... weird?

Congratulations! I agree the 802 sims were kind of confusing.

Absolutely I meant more in terms of study material, or any questions about study material they may not have understood. I will also say be careful on how much you study of networking, I have memorized much of what I am now learning for the N+ exam during preparation for the a+, while not a bad thing it would have helped if I studied the objectives more closely.

Hey, I'm just looking to get started in preparation for these exams myself at the moment. In terms of notes and where to begin etc, do you have any pointers for a total newbie??Where I might find them notes online etc??What approach did you take to studying, as in - review exam papers first, then learn material on basis in questions asked, type of thing?

The first thing I personally did was study Mike Myers all in one book. I then read through exam cram taking some notes along the way. I finally did all of Professor Messers videos, and ultimately got his notes. I feel that it is important to get information from multiple sources as i learned a little more from each source. As far as practice tests go, the exam cram includes a very good one for each test. I am also quite partial to examcompass.

I would advise to study up on it, especially usb, firewire, sata, and wireless standards. Not only are these good for the test, but having a general idea can never hurt :).

You should definitely memorize speeds, especially for the 802.11x technologies and USB versions.

EDIT: Oops you beat me to it :P
