Question about E|CIH...
Greetings,
I am looking into this Certified Incident Handler (CIH) cert from ECC and I haven't found much feed back regarding it. I was wondering if anyone here has taken the test and could provide some first hand experience. I did some HW and the course is only 2 days, and its only a 2 hour test with 50 multiple choice questions. Seems a little weak for a cert test to me. The position I am going for is a IRT gig. Since all my experience is DoD, I was looking for something to give me a broader outlook on the real world. Any input you may have is appreciated.

I don't have any personal experience with that certification but you'd probably be better off looking at something more established. Either SANS SEC504 (Incident Handling/GCIH) or CERT CSIH.

Agree with Billv_. As you noticed, this is an extremely unpopular cert. Courseware is $277 for self-study (books), $699 for iLearn CBT, or $1,158 for instructor-led. I have a very hard time justifying the ROI of such an unpopular cert. CERT also offer an IR cert, but also very unpopular. My colleague recently went through a week long IR training with Infosec Institute and said it sucked. I highly recommend SANS SEC 504. Doesn't get any better for "been there, done that" than SANS courses. Of course, cost is an issue which can be offset with the Work Study Program. -

Thank you BillV and cyberguypr. SANS was actually my first stop, unfortunately cost is a concern at the moment. I wasn't looking for a cheap alternative (we all know you get what you pay for) it was more of an inquiry because its the road i'm on and just wanted some paper to back up the blisters. Time to start saving i guess. Also, cyberguypr i read that post. I replied to it asking for an update.
