CISSP Pass 1/6/2016

Today I passed the CISSP exam. I studied for about 3 months and have about 10 years progressive IT experience, with 1 year in an Infosec role.

Materials used:
  • Threat Modeling by Adam Shostack
  • Eric Conrad 2nd Edition (before the new one was out)
  • Sybex Guide
  • Eric Conrad 11th hour
  • CCCure training videos
  • CCCure practice tests
  • Sybex practice tests
  • Cybrary Videos.
I liked the Conrad 2E book the best. The Sybex guide had everything I needed.

I struggled with the CCCure video training, it was too lengthy for my taste. The 'freepracticetests.org' site questions were good, but far too technical compared to my exam experience. The Sybex questions were spot-on. I was scoring on average 80-90% between CCCure and Sybex exams. I did about 1500 CCCure questions and all of the Sybex questions.

I really liked the Cybary videos. Kelly was great!

The whole exam process from check in to results was about 2 hours for me. I agree with other assessments, this is not a memorization exam, it's a practical application exam with a focus on management. This was my first attempt

Next up is OSCP.

Nice write up. Just as I suspected, Sybex 7th, Do about 2,000 CCCure questions, and Cybrary should be enough to pass. Congrats!

Thanks everyone. @Brain-D typically about 3hrs per night. @Danny069 If I were to narrow that list down I would do Sybex, Cybrary and Sybex questions.

    Congratulations!
When you say Cybrary training are you referring to the class that still covers the 10 Domains?
I just logged in and created an account. I'm only seeing the CISSP course with the old 10 domains.

Are the Sybex questions the one that come with the book or are these purchased in addition?

@EJMADELINE I used this Sybex test bank: https://sybextestbanks.wiley.com/public/ It's included with the book and IMO is better than CCCure for this exam.

Thanks for your the feedback! I plan to start studying for the CISSP next week or so. Plan to do as you suggested Sybex, Cybrary and Sybex questions.

Is this the proper link to the Cybrary videos? https://www.cybrary.it/course/cissp/

Do you suggest I start out with the Cybrary videos first and then tackle the Sybex book? Also, why do you not suggest the CCCure questions? Just curious.

    Thank You!!

Yes, that is the Cybrary course I used. My preferred study method is to read first with notes, then use videos, then test questions.

I found the CCCure questions were far too technical. I did appreciate the depth of technical questions on the CCCure engine for my own learning but as far as the exam goes the Sybex engine was more realistic. Given the option, I would of course use both.
