Re: New Certification: CompTIA PenTest+
This is my hope too. Working as a contractor, we just had a major change with one of our large clients. Previously they required GCIA for specific job functions. Last year they switched the requirements for that position to CSA+. Those with GCIA were able to get it waived, but it did show the direction of things. Of course… -
Re: New Certification: CompTIA PenTest+
Oh. From their PenTest+ page: Passing Score Pass/fail information will not be available until summer 2018; candidates will be notified. Only a numbered score is issued at the end of the beta exam. No exam objectives appear in beta exam results. Would've been nice to compare scores for the hell of it. -
Re: New Certification: CompTIA PenTest+
I've been on the fence for about a week on taking this exam. I assisted with pentests and audits in my last job, but only for a few months. I learned some things, but a lot of it is fuzzy now. I think I likely wouldn't pass. I'm not a big CompTIA fan, but from what people are saying, it sounds like they may have done a… -

Re: New Certification: CompTIA PenTest+
I except this be at the same level as CEH---but more reputable. It's mid-level according to CompTIA but regarding strictly pentesting I think it'll be equivalent to CEH and maybe between eJPT/eCPPT. It fills that void for those who avoid ECCouncil and eLS (lack or market penetration). Pure speculation but that's my initial… -
Re: New Certification: CompTIA PenTest+
Signed up for a 4/21 exam date. Will look over the exam objectives and study as much as I can based from that. I'm not a pentester but as I continue my pursuit to be a network engineer, with a strong focus in security, I feel like this will only help me. Will probably fail but this will be really good exposure to that area. -
Re: New Certification: CompTIA PenTest+
Just took it today, also enjoyed it but am not expecting much. However, the overwhelming pessimism I'm seeing could be good news for us. I've never failed a CompTIA exam before. I did however, just fail the C|HFI a few days ago... (been lagging on my WGU progress). The C|HFI had garbage questions (like "What data is on the… -
Re: New Certification: CompTIA PenTest+
Hi Guys, I wish to register for the CompTIA Pentest Beta exam, but I have a doubt. Once I attend and pass the Beta exam, will I be considered as a successful candidate and get original certification/CPT+ Certified in future OR will I be given a Beta Certified/Certification OR do I have to take the exam again once it is… -
Re: New Certification: CompTIA PenTest+
Having just finished eJPT, I'm really tempted to sign up for this beta exam. However, I'm supposed to be using this time to get caught up on projects around the house that I neglected while preparing for eJPT. Do I really need Pentest+? Probably not. Argh! I could stand to live without a deadline for awhile.… -
Re: New Certification: CompTIA PenTest+
I signed up for as late as the test center will let me, which is 4/20. I'm currently finishing up my last class for my Masters and studying for the CASP, so I'm going to be cutting it close since I'm not sure how much studying I will be able to do for the PenTest+. My last class is vulnerability management, so hopefully…
