Re: ISACA exams today 6/14 - CISA, CRISC, CISM, etc.
Yeah, I'm not claiming to be a genius or anything and I didn't have a lot of audit experience at the time. I think the fact that I wrote the CISSP < year from that helped me. Certainly the way they ask questions is similar. I was going to defer because I had some stuff going on in my life and I couldn't study but I missed… -
Re: I NEED CLARIFICATION ON MCSA/MCSE: Security Please!!
If you're thinking about MCSA/MCSE: Security, you'd probably too late unless you're in-the-motions of taking exams 70-298 (Designing Security) and 20-299 (Implementing Security) this month AND are near completion of all of the requirements. These two exams are usually required for the cert(s) unless you have other InfoSec… -
Re: Article: "There's nothing whatsoever "entry level" about security."
I am actually currently studying Information Security and Assurance at Kennesaw State University near Atlanta Ga, although I would love to work in Security, this article is also raising some alarms in my head, because when I am researching current job openings in "entry level" security, Most say that 7+ years of security… -
Re: Will the rest of CompTIA certifications remain lifetime for January 2011?
I can't speak for Linux+, but the "main three" (A+, Network+ and Security+) are the only ones that have the ISO requirement of renewing every three years (the same requirement that dictate PMP and CISSP to renew every three years as well). Project+ would have been lifetime whether I took it now or in 1/2011. The rumor is… -

Re: CISA 6 September 14 results - Anyone received already?
I surprisingly passed the CISA and only studied for 1 week before the exam. Due to transitioning back and forth through Afghanistan and Kuwait (VISA issues). CISSP definitely helped with taking for this exam. Due to IT and DOD background.. the technical part was easy. I mainly focused on my weak points which were "Process… -
Re: InfoSec and Security - not that glamorus of a field people - Wake up!
Just watched on CNN, Upfront with Erin B - There is a need for code breakers apparently as many terrorist organizations are using encrypted channels and sophisticated end-to-end encrypted communications that even the FBI or CIA (they did not mentions NSA) cannot crack. So they were asking the encryption keys from big… -
Re: My 2 year OSCP journey is finally over!
Thanks, I've been considering reupping after my vacation this weekend. I could spend June working on it and take it the 4th extended weekend. I'm leaning heavily towards doing this, just don't want to waste anymore money. I passed the CISSP almost 2 months ago so I need to start working on something. I'm also considering… -
Re: Help me decide my next Education step.
I'm split on how I should provide a recommendation. 1) I think getting a 2nd bachelors degree is redundant given you already have a related bachelors degree 2) you say you love to learn and the course content and certs in the bachelors programs are probably highly appealing I'd recommend self-studying and learning what you… -
Re: Jump from Infrastructure Management down to Security Engineer/Analyst
Good points all around. Yes I know there are a ton of different infosec certs, but they 'seem' to be in a similar bubble although yes I admit that offensive vs vendor-SIEM monitoring vs CISSP are all different in their own way so that's probably a moot point. Yeah the more I ponder I'm sure I just need to eventually get to…
