G'day all,
I'm your run of the mill Systems Administrator, one of those jack-of-all-trades non-specialist types. I've been giving serious consideration in diving deeper into forensics as a specialty.
The GCFE intrigues me, but I'm concerned about how to approach it from a self-study perspective. I cannot afford to take the courses, which leaves me with the lone option of self-study.
Contrast the GCFE with CHFI, where I can afford to take their course (825) plus the exam (500).
Ideas/suggestions on how I should proceed?

For $900 you get to work as a facilitator helping setup and tear down the event, assist the instructor, etc. In return you get to tame the same class everyone takes and pays over $4,500 for. You also get access to the on-demand version of the class for three months, and one attempt at the GCFE.
I've done the program 3 times and will be doing it a fourth in 2 weeks, precisely for the FOR 408 class. -
