I think that there's so much here to be addressed that folks may think that you haven't put in a sufficient amount of work to be taken seriously. Just opening the document it looks like you just threw everything that you could think of on there and now you want someone else to do the work of cleaning it up for you.

I think that if you spend a little time getting rid of superfluous information, tightening up the formatting and making the language more professional, folks on here are kind and generous and would love to give you some advice!

    Hi Paul,

I have had that CV for quite a while, I didn't mean to come across as I was asking someone to do it for me, apologies if it seemed that way.

I have taken your advice on board and tidied it up and deleted and added some bit. I think the overall look is better.

Let me know what you think.

Any advice or criticism is welcome.

First of all, just know that none of what I advise is written in stone.

I think that resume writing in an art, and everyone goes about it in a way that compliments their strengths as individuals. But at the end of the day you’re not going to be invited to interview unless you’re able to communicate your ability to work and relate to others in a precise and effective way. Depth of knowledge and experience can be gained, but professionalism and desire are internal.

Check out this quick re-write. I didn’t change any of the content, but cleaned up the presentation. Use numbers to demonstrate your accomplishments and stick close to the point.

I'm usually pretty good at explaining things but I struggle to write about myself for some reason.
When I go to write my CV my mind just goes blank icon_cry.gif

I think that sometimes technically capable individuals struggle with the more political aspects of career and personal development. Self promotion isn't one of my strengths either, but I've learned to take time to reflect deeply.

Sometimes we can take for granted the level of understanding that we actually have about these technologies and the real impact that they have on business. Think in terms of dollars saved (or earned), risks mitigated or the competitive advantage that you can help to provide and use a lot of "searchable terms".

    Good luck!

I totally agree, often I completely undersell myself as I dont realise that not everybody thinks the same way I do. I suppose we all have our strengths and weaknesses. I was able to walk into a completely new field (CCTV) and pick it up in no time.
Like you said I think a lot of technically minded people are the same. As my Girlfriend says "He's one of those really smart people with no common sense"

Thanks for the good wishes I really appreciate it, need to find work quick!
