Hey All,

Just wondering what book/s you would recommend for the GSEC exam.

Typically how much study is required before an exam attempt.

What was your feeling towards the exam itself.

Thanks.

Thanks, I’ll give the “CISSP Study Guide” a go. One of the books mentioned on thread is nearly ten years old at this stage, surely can’t be relevant. Very mixed reviews of the books on amazon. Thanks again.

Geez, of course the exam has changed. the ESSENCE is what applies: no one definitive book, dissect blueprint. etc.

The only thing you can do is look at the objectives and search the topics one by one. But just a heads up, you will find some questions on the test that come directly from the sec401 books...
Current: GSEC, GCIH, GCIA, GWAPT, GYPC, RHCSA, WCNA
2019 Goals: CISSP, Splunk certifications (Certified Core, Power User, Admin, and Architect)

The exams and books are changing all the time, i've seen a co-workers SANS 504 books that were just a couple years old. One of the things I recall in them is they covered network Switch vuerabilities and compermises. When I took my own SANS 504 course there was no mention of it in my books.
Still searching for the corner in a round room.
