ESXI and UPC's

I'm running ESXI in a production environment and was wondering if anyone has been able to get a UPC to communicate with it to tell it to shutdown incase of a poweroutage.

You can get network connected UPS units.
Do you have an example? And how will it interact with the ESXi environment? -

Install the UPS agent into a VM or standalone server that will issue commands to VC to shutdown.And how will it interact with the ESXi environment? -

If would be nice if there was a UPS agent that could run as a daemon directly in BusyBox and communication with the UPS over a serial or USB port. I assume that VMs can be controlled from within BusyBox, but I'm not sure. -

Use apcupsd and the VI Perl toolkit. Using apcupsd and the RCLI VM should work as well if you don't mind it actually being inside a VM.
