ESXI and UPC's

I'm running ESXI in a production environment and was wondering if anyone has been able to get a UPC to communicate with it to tell it to shutdown incase of a poweroutage.

Install the UPS agent into a VM or standalone server that will issue commands to VC to shutdown.

If would be nice if there was a UPS agent that could run as a daemon directly in BusyBox and communication with the UPS over a serial or USB port. I assume that VMs can be controlled from within BusyBox, but I'm not sure.

Use apcupsd and the VI Perl toolkit. Using apcupsd and the RCLI VM should work as well if you don't mind it actually being inside a VM.
