Just passed the SANS GCFW (GIAC Certified Firewall Analyst)

Just passed the SANS GCFW (GIAC Certified Firewall Analyst), got a 89%. About five seconds after passing the exam I got an email from SANS congratulating me on the pass. They've already updated the GCFW portal with my name/number/score. It looks like I'm analyst #3038, one of 1344 GCFW's globally. It was definitely the most challenging exam that I have ever taken and was very heavy on practical application of the material. I'm pretty excited about the pass. Rather than asking you abstract questions about a firewall log, for example, you might be presented with a traffic flow and be asked to describe what's going on.

1,344 GCFW Certified Professionals - 576 GCFW Gold

CCSP SNRS is up next, should have that test done in a few weeks.

that sounds like a very cool exam - something I might want to keep in mind for future studies.

I just got an email requesting that I join the SANS mentor program. I'm definitely going to take them up on it. Sucks that I was only 1 point from the Advisory board... I'll meet that requirement on the GCIH though

I have decided that I'm going to write my gold paper on improving network security using existing Cisco infrastructure. It should be an entertaining experience.
